Publisher, Ownership and Editorial Independence

Publisher

Cerrado Publishing is an independent scholarly publisher based in Brazil dedicated to the publication of high-quality, peer-reviewed, fully open access academic journals across diverse fields of science.

The publisher is responsible for the editorial management, production, dissemination, and long-term digital preservation of its journals. Cerrado Publishing operates independently and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of scientific integrity, editorial transparency, publication ethics, and academic excellence.

Ownership

All journals published by Cerrado Publishing are owned and managed by Cerrado Publishing.

The publisher is fully responsible for establishing editorial policies, overseeing peer review, maintaining publication ethics, managing journal websites, ensuring long-term preservation, and administering financial operations.

Unless otherwise specified on an individual journal website, all journals published by Cerrado Publishing follow the editorial, ethical, and operational policies described on this page.

Cerrado Publishing is an independent publisher and is not controlled by commercial companies, advertisers, sponsors, funding agencies, academic institutions, professional societies, or governmental organizations. No external organization has authority over editorial policies or publication decisions.

Editorial Management

Editorial decisions are made exclusively by each journal's Editors-in-Chief, Associate Editors, and Editorial Board members.

Manuscripts are evaluated solely on the basis of:

  • scientific quality;
  • originality;
  • methodological rigor;
  • ethical compliance;
  • relevance to the aims and scope of the journal; and
  • recommendations provided through independent peer review.

Editorial decisions are entirely independent of financial considerations, nationality, institutional affiliation, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, political beliefs, sexual orientation, age, disability, or any other non-scientific factors.

The publisher does not interfere with editorial decisions made by Editors-in-Chief or Editorial Boards. Editors retain full academic independence throughout the editorial and peer review process.

Payment of an Article Processing Charge (APC), where applicable, has no influence on editorial decisions and does not guarantee manuscript acceptance.

Business Model

Cerrado Publishing operates under the Gold Open Access publishing model.

All published articles are made freely and permanently available online immediately upon publication, without subscription or access barriers.

The publisher does not charge manuscript submission fees.

For journals that apply Article Processing Charges (APCs), fees are requested only after a manuscript has successfully completed peer review and has been formally accepted for publication.

Revenue generated through APCs is used exclusively to support the editorial operation and long-term sustainability of the journals, including:

  • editorial management;
  • manuscript processing;
  • peer review administration;
  • professional language editing (when applicable);
  • copyediting;
  • layout production;
  • DOI registration;
  • website maintenance;
  • digital preservation;
  • online publication;
  • indexing support; and
  • long-term archiving.

Any financial surplus generated through publishing activities is reinvested in improving editorial quality, publishing services, technological infrastructure, journal visibility, and long-term preservation.

Cerrado Publishing does not accept advertising or commercial sponsorship that could influence editorial policies or publication decisions.

Editorial Independence

Cerrado Publishing maintains complete separation between editorial decision-making and financial administration.

Editors, Editorial Board members, reviewers, and editorial staff evaluate manuscripts exclusively according to scientific merit, methodological quality, originality, relevance, and compliance with ethical standards.

Neither APC payments nor any commercial, institutional, political, or financial interests influence the editorial process or publication decisions.

The publisher safeguards the academic independence of editors and supports editorial decisions based solely on scientific evidence and internationally accepted ethical standards.

Commitment to Publication Ethics

Cerrado Publishing is committed to responsible scholarly publishing and upholds internationally recognized standards of publication ethics.

All journals published by Cerrado Publishing follow the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing, jointly developed by the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Open Access Scholarly Publishing Association (OASPA), and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).

The publisher adheres to the recommendations and ethical guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and maintains policies addressing research integrity, conflicts of interest, peer review, editorial independence, corrections, retractions, misconduct investigations, and ethical oversight.

Editorial policies are reviewed regularly to ensure transparency, accountability, integrity, and continuous compliance with international best practices in scholarly publishing.

Cerrado Publishing is dedicated to fostering an ethical, transparent, inclusive, equitable, and trustworthy scholarly communication environment for authors, reviewers, editors, readers, and the global research community.
