Digital Preservation Policy
The Brazilian Journal of Science is committed to preserving the integrity, authenticity, and long-term accessibility of the scholarly record.
To achieve this objective, the journal adopts multiple preservation strategies based on internationally recognized standards for digital publishing.
The journal is published using the Open Journal Systems (OJS) and preserves its published content through:
- PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN);
- LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe);
- CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS).
These preservation services create multiple secure copies of published content across geographically distributed servers, ensuring permanent access regardless of technical failures or changes to the journal's publishing platform.
Additionally, all articles receive persistent Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) through Crossref, allowing reliable identification, citation, and long-term discoverability.
The Editorial Office also maintains routine backups of the journal database, metadata, website, and published files to minimize the risk of data loss.
Should publication of the journal ever cease, every effort will be made to ensure that all published content remains permanently accessible through the preservation networks and institutional repositories.
The journal periodically reviews its preservation procedures to maintain compliance with international best practices in scholarly publishing.
