The Thrush-like Wren is nomadic bird of forest and has an affinity for disturbed areas. Restricted to South America, it is distributed from south-central Colombia eastern Ecuador and Peru, central and western to the southern Brazil and northeastern Argentina, with a disjunct population in eastern Brazil. I report here the first record for Santa Catarina on 25 January 2023, by vocalization of an individual. Three were present 3 days later, and one was photographed. Its range expansion is most likely attributed to deforestation, and is also consistent with the prediction that organisms are extending their geographic range towards higher latitudes and elevations as a consequence of climate change.
